Grove City takes 19th at NCAA Regionals

NEWVILLE, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's cross country team had a pair of runners post top-50 finishes as the Wolverines finished 19th out of 47 teams at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by Dickinson College, at Big Spring High School on Saturday morning.

The Wolverines accumulated 504 team points, finishing second among Presidents' Athletic Conference programs behind conference champion Saint Vincent.

Sophomore Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) finished 43rd in the 343-runner field and missed earning All-Region honors by just 11 seconds with a time of 26 minutes, 7.3 seconds while his older brother, senior Peter Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Broadfording Christian), finished just two spots back in 45th with a time of 26:11.3.

Freshman Nick McClure (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) was third on the squad and 120th overall with a time of 27:21.4 while sophomores Gabe Imhof (Strasburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) finished 147th (27:50.5) and 154th (27:54.9), respectively, to finish in the Wolverines' scoring five.

Freshman Drew Thibault (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) finished 171st in 28:13.7 while sophomore Devon Powley (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencer) rounded out the Grove City contingent by taking 188th in 28:25.6.

Carnegie Mellon won the team competition with 90 points while Widener earned the region's second automatic bid to nationals with 115 points. Haverford's Charlie Marquardt won the individual title with a course-record time of 24:57.4.
