Christiansen takes 1st; Wolverines 3rd at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- Junior Daniel Christiansen (Frederick, Md./Frederick) captured medalist honors Saturday morning at the Saint Vincent Invitational, helping the Grove City College men's cross country team place third in the team standings with 107 team points.

Christiansen covered the course in 26 minutes, 40.4 seconds in earning the individual win. Six additional Grove City runners finished in the top 50, led by a fifth-place finish by sophomore Nick McClure (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny). McClure posted a time of 27:10.6.

Freshman Ryan Budnik (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) placed 29th overall (28:24.3) while junior Brandon Wise (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) took 31st place in 28:34.2. Junior Andrew Mascio (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished 43rd (28:56.), three spots ahead of junior Gabe Imhof (Strasburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite). Imhof placed 46th in 28:58.1

Senior Josh Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent) took 49th with a time of 29:06.5

Saint Vincent won the team title with 59 points while NCAA Division II member Seton Hill earned second with 93 points.

Saint Vincent will host the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships October 31. Grove City returns to action October 3 at the Greater Louisville (Ky.) Classic.
