GCC Takes Second At Allegheny

MEADVILLE, PA, September 11, 1999--The Grove City College men's cross country team placed second out of six schools at the Allegheny Classic on Saturday.

The Wolverines, who placed three runners in the top seven, were edged by Allegheny 35-48.  Findlay took third with 90 points, followed by Alfred with 100 points, Walsh with 121 points and Hiram with 135 points.

John Sabella (Grand Valley, PA/Tidioute) ran a team-best 27:19, 21 seconds behind the winning time posted by Allegheny's Dan Princic (26:58).  Tim Sabella (Grand Valley, PA/Tidioute) crossed fifth at 27:29 and Ryan Mitchell (Centerville, OH/Centerville) took seventh in 27:38.

Other top Wolverine times in the 77-man field included: Brian Suttle (Apple Creek, OH/Waynedale), 16th, 28:03; Matt Streit (Wooster, OH/Wooster); 17th, 28:04; Josh Bolinger (Warren, OH/Lakeview), 19th, 28:18; Justin Drab (North East, PA/North East), 21st, 28:25; Derek Stauff (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser), 26th, 28:46; and Brad Wray (Lewistown, PA/Indian Valley), 27th, 28:54.
