Wolverines Place Second At CMU

PITTSBURGH, PA, September 18, 1999--Brothers John and Tim Sabella (Tidioute, PA/Tidioute) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, as the Wolverine cross country team took second place at the four-school Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday.

John clocked the team's best time for the second week in a row with a mark of 26:20, while Tim crossed in 26:26.  The two have placed 1-2 on the team in each of the Wolverines' first three races.

Grove City filled the 8,9 and 10 slots with Matt Streit (Wooster, OH/Wooster) in at 26:51, Ryan Mitchell (Centerville, OH/Centerville) at 26:54 and Josh Bolinger (Warren, OH/Lakeview) at 27:09.

CMU won the meet with 19 points, followed by Grove City with 36 points, Case Western with 87 points and Geneva with 107 points.

Other top Wolverine times in the 57-man field included: Brian Suttle (Apple Creek, OH/Waynedale), 12th, 27:10; Justin Drab (North East, PA/North East), 16th, 27:29; and Zack Groom (Cumberland, ME/Greely), 22nd, 27:49.
