Rachel
Griepsma is entering her second season as Grove City College's head women's water polo coach. The College hired
her in August 2012 as head women's water
polo coach and assistant swimming and diving coach.
She joined the College's Department of Physical Education
and Athletics after spending the 2012 season as a graduate assistant coach at
her alma mater, Mercyhurst University.
Griepsma led the Wolverines to a 12-9 overall record in her inaugural
campaign at the helm, including an 11-1 record in CWPA Division III action
and a runner-up finish at the conference championships.
Griepsma started from 2008 to 2011 for Mercyhurst's
women's water polo team and compiled one of the finest careers in program
history. She graduated as Mercyhurst's all-time leading scorer with 246 goals,
including an 80-goal season in 2008.
She earned Collegiate Water Polo Association Western
Division First Team honors in all four of her seasons and twice earned
Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches First Team All-America status.
A native of Lindsay, Ontario, Griepsma also spent three
seasons as the starting goalkeeper for Mercyhurst's women's soccer team. She
compiled 22 wins and 16 shutouts in her career.
Griepsma earned a bachelor of science degree in sports
medicine (exercise science concentration) in 2011 at Mercyhurst. In summer 2012,
she completed her master's degree in exercise science at Mercyhurst. |
