12: Schwartz, Giesler, Marmelstein each net 20+ in high-scoring
Wolverine win over Mt. Aloysius
Throughout much of the Steve Lamie coaching era, the Grove City College
men's basketball team has prided itself on staunch defensive play and
methodical, efficient offense.
On November 23, 2013, however, it was a high-powered offensive attack
that led the Wolverines to a run-and-gun 93-87 non-conference victory
over Mount Aloysius in their 2013 College Arena home opener.
Junior point guard JT Schwartz fired in a career-high 25 points in the
win while fellow juniors Mitch Marmelstein and Brian Giesler netted 23
and 22, respectively. The game marked the first time that three
Wolverines scored more than 20 points in the same game since at least
1999 (research still ongoing).
Schwartz also added six rebounds and five steals while Marmelstein
posted five rebounds and six assists. Giesler matched a Grove City
single-game record six threes while Schwartz netted five as part of a 16
three-pointer Wolverine performance. The Wolverines' 93 points was the
most by a Grove City team since 2011, and the game was the overall
highest scoring game (180 pts) Grove City had played in since 2010.
