Rabenold
becomes third All-American in Grove City women's cross country history
Grove City junior cross country and track and field standout Emily
Rabenold broke onto the regional and national scene as a premier distance
runner during her sophomore year when she won the Presidents' Athletic
Conference individual title and finished 10th at the NCAA Mideast Regional
to earn a trip to the 2013 NCAA Division III Championships.
That would be the highlight that season, however, as Rabenold finished 179th
out of 280 runners in a time of 23 minutes, 12 seconds in her first
appearance at the national championships.
A year later and more experienced, Rabenold would make another run to
nationals, winning her second-straight PAC Most Valuable Performer award and
taking ninth in the region to return to the National Championships in Mason,
Ohio.
This time, Rabenold would make the most of the opportunity and show what she
could really do. The junior got out to a fast start and then held on for a
28th-place finish in 22:21.0 to earn USTFCCCA All-America honors. With the
honor, Rabenold became the third All-American in program history and the
117th All-American in the history of the College.
