Lady Wolverines break out against Chatham

GROVE CITY, PA, April 13, 2000--The Grove City College softball team (5-7) banged out 17 hits in a doubleheader sweep over visiting Chatham College (5-9) on Thursday, winning the first game 4-3 and the second 11-0 in five innings.

The Lady Wolverines rallied from a 3-0 deficit in game one with a four-run third inning, highlighted by SS Nicole Hable's (Shoreview, MN/Totino-Grace) lead-off single, 3B Lisa Colletti's (Richboro, PA/Council Rock) run-producing double and Jessie Renaldo's (Sigel PA/Brookville) RBI triple.

Laura LeVake (Faribault, MN/Faribault) hurled a one-hitter, striking out eight and allowing two earned runs.  LeVake improved to 3-3 on the year.

Grove City collected a season-high 11 hits in the nightcap, including three from C Karen Sundberg (Erie, PA/Fairview).  RF Megan Wittenwyler (Des Moines, IA/Dowling) had a pair of singles and finished the day 3-for-6 at the plate with three runs scored and three runs batted in.  Hable added a double and also went 3-for-6 in the twin bill with three runs scored and two RBI.  LeVake plated a pair with a triple in the Lady Wolverines' seven-run fourth.

Lefty Jamie Batchelor (Lebanon, PA/Ann-Cleona) recorded the team's first shutout victory of the season, fanning three and walking one while yielding five hits.  Batchelor upped her season ledger to 2-4.
