Wolverines close regular season with split

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Pitt-Bradford Tuesday afternoon at College Field. Pitt-Bradford earned a 3-0 win in the opener but Grove City bounced back for a 5-3 win in Game Two.

Grove City (10-18) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning of the second game and held off a late Lady Panther rally for the win. Sophomore pitcher Lauren Carlson (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) fired a complete game, earning her second win of the year. She issued just one walk in seven innings.

Senior second baseman Abby Moose (New Wilmington, Pa./Mercer), Grove City College's 2005 ODK/Mortar Board Sportswoman of the Year, went 2-for-2 in the win. Moose and senior left fielder Kelly Cozad (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) each had RBI singles while junior Jes Flick (Boyers, Pa./Moniteau) and sophomore Paula Rice (Fredericksburg, Ohio) each drove in a run, also.
