Grove City falls to Geneva

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to visiting Geneva Monday afternoon at College Field. Geneva (15-10) won both games by a 4-0 score.

In the opener, Grove City (3-10) loaded the bases with one out in the sixth but could not break through against Geneva. Sophomore Amy Fisher (Streetsboro, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian), junior Kristen Hughes (Volant, Pa./Grove City), senior Andrea Settle (Pylesville, Md./Harford Christian), junior Abby Greiner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and junior Krysten Fritz (Syskesville, Md./South Carroll) all had singles in the opener.

Senior Lauren Carlson (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) took the pitching defeat for Grove City, allowing three earned runs in seven innings.

In the nightcap, Grove City left nine runners on base, including five in scoring position. Greiner, Carlson, senior Paula Rice (Fredericksburg, Ohio/Waynedale), senior Kristy Bogusz (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) and freshman Laura Miller (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) all singled.

Fisher allowed four runs on seven hits in seven innings for Grove City.

Grove City will visit Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Thiel Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Greenville.
