Grove City drops two
SALISBURY, Md. -- The Grove City College softball team dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon at Salisbury University. In Friday's opener, Capital pulled out a 2-0 win over Grove City. The Wolverines then dropped a 6-0 decision to No. 18 Salisbury in Friday's second game.
Junior pitcher Lauren Clarke (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning against Capital and finished the game with a four-hitter. She struck out five in six innings. Capital scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to break a scoreless tie.
Senior second baseman Sarah Young (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) doubled and freshman shortstop Kelsey Shirey (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) singled.
Salisbury pitcher Rachel Johnson fired a no-hitter in Game Two. She struck out 11. For Grove City, junior pitcher Faith Jentsch (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) allowed three earned runs in seven innings but took the setback.
Grove City will face Capital Saturday at 9 a.m. The Wolverines will then meet Salisbury at 11 a.m.
