Bethany takes suspended game from Grove City
BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Grove City College softball team concluded the 2015 Presidents' Athletic Conference schedule Monday afternoon by finishing a suspended game at conference foe Bethany. Bethany (22-14, 13-5 PAC) scored five unearned runs in the top of the ninth in securing a 9-4 win over Grove City (16-13, 8-10).
Darkness suspended the game after eight innings in Grove City last Thursday evening with the score tied 4-4.
Sophomore pitcher Erika Aughton (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) tossed a complete game for Grove City, allowing three earned runs over nine innings. She struck out five but took the setback.
Offensively, Aughton and senior catcher Sarah Morris (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) each paced Grove City's 10-hit attack by collecting three hits each. Senior shortstop Kelsey Shirey (Macedonia, Ohio/Nordonia) added a pair of singles for the Wolverines.
