April 28, 1999--Sue Jankowski (Benton, PA/Benton) singled home Nicole Hable (Shoreview, MN/Totino-Grace) with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Wolverine softball team a 7-6 win over NCAA Division II neighbor Slippery Rock on Wednesday in Grove City.  The Rock recovered with a 17-1 win in the nightcap.

Hable led off the seventh with a single and moved to second on an error.  Michelle Maegle (Pittsburgh, PA/Carrick) grounded out to second base, advancing Hable to third and setting up Jankowski's game-winning single.

Jankowski, Stephanie Murphy (Munroe Falls, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) and Lisa Colletti (Richboro, PA/Council Rock) each had two hits in the victory.  Laura LeVake (Faribault, MN/Faribault) got the win (8-7), striking out eight in seven innings of work.

The Rock out-hit the Lady Wolverines 17 to 1 in the 17-1 five-inning decision.   Heather Johnson (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) was credited with GCC's lone hit.

Grove City moved to 11-9 overall, while Slippery Rock left with a 12-26 record.
