GCC picks up pair of wins in West Virginia 

BETHANY, WV, September 23, 2000--The Lady Wolverines improved to 5-0 against teams outside the state of Ohio on Saturday, needing just three games to defeat Bethany and Carlow in Bethany, WV.

Sophomore Katie Summers (Staunton, VA/Grace Christian) recorded a team-high 18 kills and three blocks to lead Grove City past conference foe Bethany, 15-13, 15-11, 15-10. Junior Sarah Gardner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) posted 16 kills and 12 digs, while junior Julie Porter (Medina, OH/Highland) added 12 kills and 15 digs.  Sophomore Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City) contributed 51 assists.

The Lady Wolverines eased past Carlow in a non-league match, 15-4, 15-0, 15-0.  Denniston had 21 assists and five serving aces, while Porter led the way with five kills and six digs.

Grove City, winner of four straight matches, improved to 8-6 overall, 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.
