GCC falls in four at the Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA, October 24, 2001--The Lady Wolverine volleyball team lost its regular season finale at  Slippery Rock University on Wednesday as its NCAA Division II rival prevailed in four games, 30-21, 30-27, 28-30, 30-19.

Seniors Julie Porter (Medina, OH/Highland) and Sarah Gardner (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) paced Grove City with 13 kills apiece, while junior Cara Denniston (Grove City, PA/Grove City) registered 44 set assists.  Junior Katie Summers (Staunton, VA/Grace Christian) and Gardner posted 18 and 17 digs, respectively, for the Lady Wolverines, who fell to 17-11 overall.  Slippery Rock improved to 16-14.

Grove City next plays Saturday at noon in the semi-final round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Thiel College.  A win would send the top-seeded Lady Wolverines into the championship match Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
