Lady Wolverines bounce back at Baldwin-Wallace

BEREA, Ohio -- After dropping a pair of matches Friday at the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational, the Grove City College volleyball team rebounded Saturday with two victories, earning the bronze division title.

The Lady Wolverines (2-3) defeated Kenyon, 30-15, 30-26, 19-30 and 32-30 in their first match of the day. Grove City then swept Case Western Reserve, 30-13, 30-14 and 30-17.

Against Kenyon, senior Katie Summers (Staunton, Va./Grace Christian) racked up 17 kills and a pair of blocks while senior Kirsten Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) recorded 15 kills. Setter Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) tallied 44 assists while freshman Mindy Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville Griffith Institute) had 17 digs.

Summers posted a dozen kills and 12 digs against Case Western while Pedersen added 10 kills and 13 digs. Also for Grove City, Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville Griffith Institute) had 11 kills. Denniston distributed 37 assists and also had 12 digs while Mindy Bodi and Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian) each had 11 digs.

Grove City returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 10 for the home opener against Penn State Behrend.
