Grove City splits at John Carroll Tournament
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team (4-4) split matches with Kenyon and Baldwin-Wallace at the John Carroll Tournament Friday afternoon. The Lady Wolverines defeated Kenyon 30-25, 26-30, 30-15 and 30-28 but fell to Baldwin-Wallace, 30--17, 30-25 and 30-20.
In the first match of the day, against Baldwin-Wallace, senior Katie Summers (Staunton, Va./Grace Christian) had nine kills while Kirsten Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) posted eight kills and 20 digs. Senior setter Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) had 25 assists.
Grove City then rebounded against Kenyon as Summers had 22 kills and three blocks while Denniston distributed 50 assists. Pedersen had 14 kills while Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) had 12 digs. Heather Hayden (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) had three blocks.
Grove City returns to action Saturday for the second day of tournament action.
