Lady Wolverines endure 3 tough matches at Marietta quad 

MARIETTA, Ohio. -- The Grove City College women's volleyball team (8-8) dropped three closely-contested matches Saturday at Marietta College. Grove City fell to both Division II Charleston (W. Va.) and Kenyon 3-2. Host Marietta also pulled out a 3-1 win over the Lady Wolverines.

In Grove City's 30-19, 26-30, 27-30, 30-27, 16-14 setback against Charleston, Katie Summers (Staunton, Va./Grace Christian) collected 14 kills, six blocks and served four aces. Kirsten Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) notched a dozen kills and 28 digs while Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) had 36 assists. Sophomore Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) tallied 19 digs.

Against Marietta, Summers had 12 kills and four aces while Pedersen and Heather Hayden (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) each had nine kills. Hayden added six blocks while Denniston gave out 37 assists. Mindy Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville Griffith Institute) posted 29 digs and six blocks. Grove City fell to Marietta, 30-27, 33-31, 28-30, 35-33.

Grove City then closed the afternoon with a 30-26, 18-30, 19-30, 33-31, 15-5 defeat against Kenyon. Hayden had 10 kills while Summers and Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville Griffith Institute) each had eight kills. Denniston delivered 34 assists while Pedersen had 15 digs. DiMarco collected 13 digs and served five aces.
