Grove City takes two at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- After going 0-2 in opening-night action at the Juniata ASICS Tournament, the Grove City College women's volleyball team rebounded with victories over Frostburg State and Brockport State Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Wolverines (11-11) slipped past Frostburg, 31-29, 27-30, 18-30, 30-24, 15-12 and then swept Brockport, 30-23, 30-17, 30-21. Katie Summers (Staunton, Va./Grace Christian) paced Grove City against Frostburg with 18 kills, five blocks and three aces. Kirsten Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) tallied a dozen kills while setter Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) issued 45 assists. 

Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian) had 16 digs while Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) racked up 15 digs. Freshman Danielle McElhaney (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) served three aces. 

In Grove City's sweep of Brockport, Pedersen had 13 kills and nine digs while Summers had 11 kills and four blocks. Denniston chalked up 34 assists and three blocks while DiMarco posted nine digs and three aces.
