Westminster wrests PAC title from Grove City
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team (18-16) had its two-year run as Presidents' Athletic Conference champion come to an end Saturday afternoon as Westminster defeated Grove City, 3-0, in the PAC tournament championship game at Washington and Jefferson College. Westminster won by scores of 30-23, 30-19 and 30-20.
Kirsten Pedersen (Santa Rosa, Calif./Montgomery) led the Lady Wolverines with nine kills and 15 digs while Katie Summers (Staunton, Va./Grace Christian) contributed seven kills and 13 digs. Cara Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) had 30 assists from her setter position. Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) added 14 digs.
In the semifinals, Grove City swept Waynesburg, 30-19, 30-21, 30-24. Summers had 10 kills while Pedersen had eight kills and 13 digs. Denniston distributed 24 assists and served three aces while Heather Hayden (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) had six blocks. DiMarco added 17 digs.
Denniston and Summers were named to the conference's First Team while Pedersen earned Second Team placement. Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) received Honorable Mention.
