Lady Wolverines place second at Oberlin 

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team earned second place at the Oberlin College Tournament Saturday afternoon. The Lady Wolverines (3-1) opened the day's action with a 30-9, 30-11, 30-8 triumph over Lake Erie before falling to Bethany in the title match in four games, 26-30, 30-11, 30-17, 30-28. 

Freshman Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/St. John and Paul) paced Grove City against Lake Erie, collecting seven kills while classmate Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) added six kills. Sophomore setter Carly Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) had 22 assists and eight digs while senior Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) served seven aces and had a pair of blocks. 

Bodi recorded 13 kills and four blocks against Bethany in the title match while Tinney had 10 kills. Junior Rachel Peterson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) added nine kills.

Also for Grove City, Denniston distributed 35 assists while Roberts had six blocks. Junior Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian) posted a team-high 20 digs and served a pair of aces.

Grove City opens its home schedule Wednesday night against Hiram at 7 p.m.
