Grove City drops pair at Baldwin-Wallace
BEREA, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team (3-6) dropped a pair of matches at the Baldwin-Wallace Marcia French Memorial Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Host Baldwin-Wallace picked up a 30-27, 30-18, 30-28 victory over the Lady Wolverines in the first match of the day. Albion (Mich.) closed Grove City's afternoon by winning in four games, 30-23, 20-30, 30-22 and 30-22.
Senior Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) paced Grove City against Baldwin-Wallace with 12 kills and 21 digs while sophomore setter Carly Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) chalked up 27 assists. Junior Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian) recorded 16 digs while freshman Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) served four aces.
Bodi had 13 kills and 27 digs against Albion while Denniston had 33 assists. Freshman Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/St. John and Paul) had nine kills and five blocks for Grove City while Roberts had eight kills.
Grove City hosts Mount Union Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
