Grove City wins 2nd straight, now 4-4 in PAC
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Freshman Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) rang up a career-high 24 kills while senior Pam Herr (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) added a career-high 23 digs as Grove City downed Thiel 30-23, 30-28, 26-30, 32-30 in Presidents' Athletic Conference volleyball competition Tuesday night at the Grove City College Arena.
The win is Grove City's second straight and moves the Lady Wolverines (9-19 overall) to 4-4 in the PAC. Grove City is one game behind Washington and Jefferson (5-3 PAC) for second place and a bye in next week's conference tournament.
Senior Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) added 14 kills for Grove City while junior Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian Academy) had 16 digs. Sophomore setter Carly Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) distributed 46 assists while freshman Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) collected eight blocks.
Tinney also had a half-dozen blocks.
Grove City hosts Westminster (9-19, 4-4 PAC) Thursday. The winner will remain alive for a quarterfinal bye in next week's PAC Tournament.
