Presidents rally past Grove City in 5 games
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Visiting Washington and Jefferson (15-13, 7-3 PAC) erased a 2-0 Grove City lead to secure a 29-31, 25-30, 30-26, 30-28, 15-13 victory in both teams' regular season finale Tuesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference volleyball action.
Senior Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) led Grove City with 21 kills while freshman Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) added 14 kills and five blocks.
Sophomore setter Carly Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) distributed 54 assists while juniors Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian Academy) and Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) had 25 and 23 digs, respectively.
Freshman Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) had eight blocks.
Grove City honored seniors Renee Allen (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills), Bodi and Pam Herr (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) prior to the match.
Grove City (9-21, 4-6 PAC) will enter this weekend's PAC Championship Tournament as the fourth seed. The Lady Wolverines will meet fifth-seeded Thiel (9-16, 3-7) Friday night at 8 p.m. in the quarterfinals at Waynesburg.
