Grove City wins home opener
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team improved to 4-2 Friday night with a 30-19, 3-13, 30-17 sweep of visiting Lake Erie College (0-7) at the Grove City College Arena.
Senior Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and sophomore Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) each had 10 kills for the Wolverines while senior Rachel Peterson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) added eight.
Sophomore Sarah Davison (Grove City, Pa./Penn Hills) dished out 41 assists while senior Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian Academy) racked up 21 digs. Peterson added 17 digs.
The 4-2 start is Grove City's best start since the Wolverines opened the 1999 season at 4-2. The victory is also the 496th career win for head coach Susan Roberts (496-282 overall, 444-258 in 20 years at Grove City).
The Wolverines visit Allegheny Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
