Grove City competes at Ohio Wesleyan
DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 6-10 this season with four setbacks at Ohio Wesleyan University's Bishop Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Friday, Grove City opened play with a 30-17, 30-28, 30-24 loss to Anderson (Ind.). The Wolverines then fell to host Ohio Wesleyan in three games, 30-24, 32-30, 30-23.
Sophomore Sarah Davison (Grove City, Pa./Penn Hills) posted a season-high eight kills and added 21 assists against Anderson while senior Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian Academy) added 23 digs.
Senior Rachel Peterson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) led Grove City with a dozen kills and 26 digs against Ohio Wesleyan while senior Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) and sophomore Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) each had 10 kills. Davison distributed 35 assists while Lawton tallied 24 digs.
Saturday, Grove City finished pool play with a 30-25, 30-22, 30-26 loss to Bluffton. Tinney had 14 kills while sophomore Carlie Roberts added 12 kills. Davison distributed 34 assists while Lawton had 20 digs.
Grove City closed the weekend with a 30-16, 33-31, 30-22 loss to Penn State Behrend. Tinney notched 11 kills while Roberts added eight. Freshman Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) had 27 assists.
The Wolverines will face Penn State Behrend Tuesday night at the Grove City College Arena in non-conference action at 6:30 p.m.
