Grove City sweeps Thiel, gives Roberts 500th win

GROVE CITY, Pa. --  Grove City College head volleyball coach Susan Roberts became the 14th active NCAA Division III women's volleyball coach to reach the 500-victory plateau Thursday night as the host Wolverines swept Thiel, 30-17, 30-16, 30-21 in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener at the Grove City College Arena.

Roberts now has a career record of 500-290 in 22 years as a head volleyball coach, including a 448-266 record in 20 years at Grove City.

Sophomore Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) led Grove City (8-10, 1-0 PAC) with 11 kills while classmate Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) added nine kills.

Freshman setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 29 assists while senior Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) had 14 digs. Sophomore Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) added 11 digs. Carlie Roberts had six blocks while Tinney served a pair of aces.

Grove City returns to action Tuesday night at defending PAC champion Waynesburg.
