Westminster stops Grove City in PAC finale

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team closed the regular season Tuesday night with a 30-21, 17-30, 30-13, 30-26 loss to Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Westminster at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

The loss gives Grove City (13-15, 6-4) the fourth seed in this weekend's PAC Tournament. Grove City will play either Bethany or Thiel in a quarterfinal match Friday night.

Senior Rachel Peterson (Bartlett, Tenn./Bartlett) and sophomore Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) each posted nine kills for Grove City while sophomore Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) added eight kills.

Freshman setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 31 assists, served three aces and tallied 18 digs while senior libero Melissa Lawton (High Point, N.C./Wesley Christian) added 15 digs. Peterson and senior Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) chipped in 13 digs apiece. Tinney also had three blocks.
