OBERLIN, Ohio -- Led by tournament MVP Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City), the Grove City College volleyball team captured the Oberlin Tournament championship Saturday with a 30-22, 30-22, 30-18 sweep of Bethany in the championship finals.

One day after racking up 25 total kills in a pair of wins, Roberts, a junior middle hitter, recorded 14 kills in the championship match while sophomore Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added 13 kills and four blocks. Sophomore setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 36 assists while junior libero Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) had 16 digs. Sophomore Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) added 12 digs.

Grove City (3-1) closed pool play Saturday morning with a 30-24, 17-30, 27-30, 30-20, 15-6 loss to Ohio Wesleyan. Grove City still advanced to the championship round, however, based on the tie-breaking procedure.

Roberts posted 14 kills and seven blocks against Ohio Wesleyan while sophomores Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) and Katie Skinner (Bay Village, Ohio/Christian Community) both tallied 12 kills. Walsh chalked up 44 assists while Rossol had 34 digs.
