Grove City splits on road

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College volleyball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 30-16, 22-30, 30-22, 26-30, 16-14 loss at Thomas More. However, the Wolverines (4-3, 0-1 PAC) rebounded for a 29-31, 30-27, 30-20, 30-14 victory over non-conference foe Wilmington.

Junior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) led Grove City with 15 kills and nine blocks against Thomas More while sophomore Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) recorded nine kills and 19 digs. Sophomore setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) had 40 assists while junior Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) posted 22 digs.

Sophomore Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) collected 12 digs while sophomore Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) had five blocks.

Roberts tallied 14 kills and six blocks in the four-game win over Wilmington. Fraiz and Plyler both posted identical 11-kill, 13-dig outings while Walsh posted 44 assists and 15 digs.

Rossol had a team-high 18 digs while sophomore Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) recorded 14 digs. Fraiz added five blocks.

The Wolverines will host Allegheny Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
