Wolverines drop pair at Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team dropped two matches Friday night in pool play at the Westminster Invitational at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.
Grove City (4-6) opened play Friday afternoon with a five-game loss to Penn State Behrend, 30-24, 30-32, 27-30, 30-27, 15-8. In the nightcap, Wooster swept the Wolverines, 30-15, 30-26, 30-15.
Sophomore Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) paced Grove City against Behrend with a 17-kill, 19-dig effort while sophomore Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added 10 kills. Sophomore setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) tallied 46 assists while classmate Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) had 15 digs.
Junior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) recorded six blocks.
Freshman Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) posted a team-high eight kills against Wooster while Walsh had 25 assists. Fraiz recorded 13 digs.
Grove City will play Pitt-Greensburg Saturday at 11 a.m.
