Grove City wins twice at Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team evened its record at 6-6 Saturday afternoon with two victories at the Westminster Invitational. Grove City closed pool play with a 30-27, 30-22, 30-22 sweep of Pitt-Greensburg.
The Wolverines then swept Pitt-Bradford in the fifth-place match, 30-28, 30-19, 30-28.
Sophomore Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) posted 10 kills against Pitt-Greensburg while junior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) recorded eight kills and nine blocks. Sophomore setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) tallied 30 assists in the win.
Roberts had 12 kills and five blocks against Pitt-Bradford while freshman Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) collected 10 kills. Walsh distributed 36 assists while sophomore Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) had 12 digs. Sophomore Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) added 10 digs.
Grove City will compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament next Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24.
