Grove City earns two sweeps

PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- The Grove City College volleyball team improved to 13-11 overall Saturday afternoon with a pair of non-conference wins at Lake Erie College. Grove City opened play with a 30-14, 30-14, 30-14 sweep of host Lake Erie, then closed the afternoon with a 30-20, 30-9, 30-19 victory over La Roche.

Sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and junior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) each had nine kills against Lake Erie while sophomore Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) had eight kills. Sophomore setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) recorded 36 assists while sophomore Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) had three serving aces.

Junior Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) had 16 digs while Plyler had 10 digs.

Roberts tallied a team-high 13 digs in Grove City's three-game win over La Roche. Liberati and junior Allison Cummings (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) each had eight kills. Walsh had 35 assists and three aces while Rossol tallied 13 digs. Plyler recorded nine digs.

Grove City returns to Presidents' Athletic Conference play Tuesday night against Waynesburg at 6:30 p.m. in the Grove City College Arena.
