Grove City captures PAC opener
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Wednesday night with a 30-24, 30-27, 30-28 sweep of visiting Waynesburg (0-12, 0-1 PAC) in the Grove City College Arena.
Sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led Grove City with a dozen kills while junior Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) added 11 kills. Junior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) had seven kills on just 11 total attacks.
Junior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 40 assists while sophomore Meghan Glenn (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) served three aces.
Senior libero Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) recorded 13 digs while Anderson tallied three blocks.
Grove City will compete in the Westminster Invitational Friday and Saturday. The Wolverines will play Lake Erie (4:00 p.m.) and Pitt-Greensburg (8:00 p.m.). Grove City will play Penn State Behrend Saturday at 11 a.m. The Wolverines return to PAC action Sept. 19 against visiting Bethany.
