Wolverines 1-1 on 2nd day of York Tourney
YORK, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball is 10-5 after going 1-1 in the second day of action at the York College Spartan Best Western Wingate INNVitational Saturday afternoon.
Grove City opened the day with a 30-24, 28-30, 30-28, 24-30, 15-12 loss to Susquehanna. However, the Wolverines rebounded for a 30-28, 30-23, 30-18 sweep of Albright in their final match of the weekend.
Junior Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) led Grove City with 21 kills against Susquehanna. Sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) posted 18 kills while junior Katie Skinner (Bay Village, Ohio/Christian Community) added 14 kills.
Junior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 62 assists, tying a career high. Defensively, senior libero Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) recorded 30 digs while sophomore Meghan Glenn (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) tallied 20 digs. Liberati and junior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) both had four blocks.
Liberati's 15-kill effort paced Grove City against Albright. Skinner added a dozen kills while Fraiz posted 11 kills. Walsh dished out 46 assists.
Rossol posted 26 digs while junior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) added 11 digs. Anderson had three blocks.
Fraiz earned All-Tournament Team recognition following the conclusion of play.
Grove City will visit Washington & Jefferson Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
