Grove City tops W&J, remains atop PAC

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team maintained a share of first place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 3-2 victory at defending PAC champion Washington & Jefferson Tuesday night at the Henry Memorial Center.

The Wolverines (11-5, 3-0 PAC) pulled out a 28-30, 30-18, 35-33, 19-30, 16-14 win to stay in a tie for first in the PAC with Thomas More (3-0 PAC). Grove City trailed 13-12 in the fifth game but rallied for the win.

Sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) paced Grove City with 18 kills. Junior Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit), this week's PAC Player of the Week, added 15 kills while senior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) tallied 10 kills. Roberts made her return to the lineup after missing 10 matches due to injury.

Junior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) recorded 56 assists for Grove City while senior Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) led the Wolverines with 37 digs. Fraiz added 20 digs.

It is Grove City's first win at W&J since 2003. Grove City will visit PAC rival Westminster Thursday night at 7 p.m.
