Grove City topples unbeaten Behrend
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team earned a 30-26, 17-30, 30-19, 30-28 victory over previously-unbeaten Penn State Behrend (15-1) Monday night in a non-conference match at the Grove City College Arena.
Grove City is now 12-6 overall. It is the Wolverines' best record after 18 matches since 1998.
Four Wolverines produced double-digit kill totals in the victory. Junior Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) led Grove City with 15 kills while sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) added 12 kills. Junior Katie Skinner (Bay Village, Ohio/Christian Community) recorded 11 kills while senior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) contributed 10 kills.
Junior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 44 assists. Defensively, sophomore Meghan Glenn (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) recorded 17 digs while Fraiz added 15 digs. Senior Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) and junior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) both tallied 11 digs. Roberts added five blocks.
Penn State Behrend had swept the Wolverines at the Westminster Tournament Sept. 16 in New Wilmington, Pa.
Grove City will return to Presidents' Athletic Conference play Friday evening at home against Thiel at 6:30 p.m.
