Wolverines sweep W&J

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team completed a season sweep of Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Washington & Jefferson Thursday night with a 30-26, 30-24, 30-20 victory over W&J in the Grove City College Arena.

Grove City is now 18-8 overall and 7-2 in the PAC. The Wolverines are one-half game behind Westminster (7-1) in the race for the top seed in the season-ending PAC Championship Tournament. Nov. 3-4.

Senior Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) paced Grove City with 12 kills while junior Heather Fraiz (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) added 10 kills. Sophomore Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park)  tallied nine kills on just 18 total attacks. Junior Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) set 36 assists.

Walsh and senior Emily Rossol (Waterville, Ohio/Toledo Christian) each tallied 14 digs while Fraiz had a dozen digs defensively for Grove City. Liberati posted four blocks.

Grove City earned a 28-30, 30-18, 35-33, 19-30, 16-14 win at Washington & Jefferson Sept. 26. It is the Wolverines' first regular season sweep of W&J since 2001.

The Wolverines will visit PAC rival Thomas More Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Grove City will then play Case Western in a non-conference match at 11 a.m. at Thomas More.
