Wolverines improve to 8-0; Liberati named MVP

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team finished its second consecutive 4-0 weekend Saturday afternoon by sweeping a pair of matches at the Penn State Behrend Invitational. Grove City opened play Saturday with a 31-29, 30-19, 30-21 victory over Fredonia State. The Wolverines then picked up a 30-22, 30-12, 30-17 victory over D'Youville in Saturday's second match. Grove City is now 8-0 for the first time since 1985.

Junior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) earned the tournament's Most Valuable Player award after posting 47 total kills during the weekend. Liberati recorded 14 kills and six blocks against Fredonia State, then contributed a dozen kills against D'Youville.

Senior Kate Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) joined Liberati on the All-Tournament team. Skinner tallied 10 kills and 13 digs against Fredonia State. She then added five kills in one game against D'Youville.

Senior Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood), this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week, added eight kills and 13 digs against Fredonia State. Senior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) had 34 assists and 11 digs in Saturday's opener while senior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) also had 13 digs.

Senior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) recorded 10 kills and four total blocks against D'Youville while Walsh set 42 assists. Mincey tallied 13 digs.

Grove City will host Saint Vincent Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
