Wolverines split tri-match

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team split a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match Saturday afternoon in the Grove City College Arena. Grove City (12-2, 3-1 PAC) opened play with a 29-31, 30-20, 30-21, 30-28 victory over Thiel. However, Grove City dropped a 30-20, 30-24, 30-17 decision to Thomas More in the nightcap.

Junior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) racked up a match-high 23 kills in the opener against Thiel while seniors Jen Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) and Kate Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) both recorded 14 kills. Senior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 57 assists.

Plyler led Grove City on defense with 21 digs while Skinner added 16 digs. Freshman Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) recorded 15 digs while Skinner had 14 digs. Liberati had five blocks while Skinner blocked four attacks.

Against Thomas More, Grove City mustered just 25 total kills in three games. Plyler and senior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) both had six kills. Walsh produced 19 assists while senior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) registered 16 digs.

Grove City will visit Chatham Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in conference action.
