Wolverines drop pair

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 16-7 overall Saturday night with a pair of setbacks at Westminster College's Memorial Field House. Grove City opened play with a 30-22, 30-21, 30-26 loss to host Westminster in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.

The Wolverines then dropped a 23-30, 34-32, 30-23, 30-26 decision to Geneva in the second portion of the tri-match.

Senior Jennifer Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) posted 13 kills and 18 digs against Westminster while junior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) recorded a dozen kills. Senior Kate Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) added 10 kills.

Senior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) tallied 41 assists. Senior libero Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) recorded 11 digs.

Plyler and Skinner both posted 16 kills against Geneva while Liberati recorded 10 kills. Walsh distributed 48 assists.

Defensively, Plyler posted 19 digs. Freshman Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) recorded 17 digs while Skinner had 16 digs. Senior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) chalked up six blocks.

Grove City is now 6-2 in PAC play. The Wolverines will host conference rival Washington & Jefferson Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
