Walsh sets career assist record in 3-0 win at Bethany

BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College volleyball team wrapped up the 2007 regular season Monday night with a 30-9, 30-25, 30-23 victory at Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Bethany at Hummel Field House. Grove City is now 19-11 overall and 9-5 in the conference.

Senior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) became Grove City's all-time leader in assists with 4,316 after recording 46 assists Monday night. Walsh passed the previous mark of 4,288, set by Cara Denniston from 1999-2002 at Grove City. Walsh also served three aces at Bethany.

Junior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) paced Grove City with 16 kills while senior Kate Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) tallied 11 kills. Senior Jen Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) added 10 kills.

Senior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) led Grove City defensively with 17 digs. Plyler and Skinner had 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Liberati posted four blocks.

Walsh also owns the College's single-match record for assists with 69. Her 1,333 assists in 2006 are the most in one season in Grove City history.

The Wolverines host Thiel Tuesday night in a PAC Championship Tournament quarterfinal match at 6:30 p.m. Grove City is the No. 3 seed while Thiel is the sixth seed in the six-team tournament.
