Grove City advances to PAC semifinals
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team pulled out a 30-27, 28-30, 30-24, 30-27 victory over visiting Thiel College Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at the Grove City College Arena. Grove City (20-11) will now advance to Friday night's semifinals against No. 2 seed Thomas More.
Junior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led Grove City with 21 kills while senior Kate Skinner (Avon Lake, Ohio/Christian Community) recorded 17 kills. Senior Jen Plyler (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) added a dozen kills for the third-seeded Wolverines.
Senior setter Kim Walsh (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) distributed 55 assists. Skinner served four aces while senior Brooke Mincey (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) had three aces.
Defensively, Plyler tallied 26 digs while Skinner recorded 22. Walsh had 15 digs. Liberati had a team-high five blocks while senior Brittany Anderson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) added three blocks.
Grove City will face Thomas More Friday night at 8 p.m. in Westminster College's Memorial Field House. Westminster is the top seed and will host No. 4 Washington & Jefferson at 6 p.m.
