Behrend clips Grove City, 3-1

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 4-5 overall Tuesday night with a 25-21, 26-24, 24-26, 25-19 setback against visiting Penn State Behrend (7-2) in the Grove City College Arena.

Senior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) led Grove City with 20 kills while sophomore Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) chipped in with nine. Freshman Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 37 assists.

Defensively, sophomore Becky Chapa (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) led Grove City with 31 digs while Jodi Barry added 22. Sophomores Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) and Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) both had 19 digs each. Rasmussen also led Grove City with four blocks.

Grove City is now 4-5 in home openers this decade. Prior to Tuesday night, the Wolverines had won their home opener in even-numbered years every year since 1998.

Grove City will compete in Westminster College's "Volley Against Violence" Friday and Saturday at Memorial Field House in New Wilmington, Pa. The Wolverines will open the tournament at 2:30 p.m. Friday against Allegheny. Grove City plays Muskingum at 7:30 Friday night.
