Grove City sweeps PAC tri-match

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College volleyball team earned its first two Presidents' Athletic Conference victories of 2008 Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines swept conference foes Bethany and Chatham in the PAC tri-match at the Chatham Center.

Grove City (7-12, 2-3 PAC) opened the day with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-10 victory over Chatham. The Wolverines then earned a four-set win over Bethany, 25-20, 25-13, 23-25, 25-17.

Senior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) tallied 11 kills and also served five aces in the win over Chatham. Freshman setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 24 assists while sophomore libero Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) had 10 digs. Budd also served three aces.

Against Bethany, Liberati recorded 15 kills and served four aces. Sophomores Becky Chapa (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) and Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) both recorded nine kills. Barry posted 35 assists. Budd and sophomore Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) both had a dozen digs for the Wolverines.

Grove City will visit Geneva Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
