Grove City earns two wins

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team earned two home victories Thursday night to improve to 9-18 on the season. Grove City opened the night with a 25-10, 25-18, 25-16 win over Penn State Beaver (19-10). The Wolverines then completed the sweep with a 25-6, 25-10, 25-14 triumph over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham.

Senior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) paced Grove City in the opener by recording 14 kills. Sophomore Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) added seven kills while sophomore Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) tallied six kills.

Freshman setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 37 assists against Penn State Beaver. Defensively, Liberati, sophomore Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) and freshman Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) all had eight digs. Rasmussen recorded three blocks.

Against Chatham (0-18, 0-9 PAC), Liberati posted nine kills while Rasmussen added seven. Sophomore Becky Chapa (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) recorded six kills. Annie Barry collected 32 assists. Defensively, Budd and Annie Barry each had nine digs.

Grove City (3-6 PAC) will return to action next Thursday at Washington & Jefferson at 7 p.m.
