Westminster tops Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team had its five-match win streak come to an end Thursday night as visiting Westminster (22-9, 13-1 PAC) earned a 25-11, 25-27, 25-18, 25-19 win over Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match at the Grove City College Arena.

Sophomore Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) paced Grove City with 12 kills while senior Natalie Liberati (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) added 10 kills. Freshman Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) recorded eight kills. Freshman setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) distributed 38 assists.

Defensively, Rasmussen led Grove City with 21 digs while Barry and sophomore Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) both had 19 digs. Sophomore Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) added 17 digs. Jodi Barry tallied a team-high five blocks.

Grove City recognized Liberati, the team's lone senior, prior to Thursday night's match as part of Senior Night festivities. Liberati is Grove City's all-time leader in kills with 1,408.

Grove City (12-19, 6-7) will conclude the regular season Saturday morning at Thomas More. The match begins at 10 a.m. The Wolverines will clinch the No. 5 seed in next week's PAC Championship Tournament with a victory.
