Grove City splits at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- For the second consecutive day, the Grove City College volleyball team went 1-1 in action at the Penn State Behrend Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Junker Center. Grove City (3-6) opened play with a 25-14, 25-7, 21-25, 25-15 victory over Lycoming. In the second match of the day, host Penn State Behrend slipped past the Wolverines, 23-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-16.

Sophomore Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) paced the Wolverines against Lycoming with 15 kills while classmate Mary Masincup (Churchville, Va./Grace Christian) added nine kills. Sophomore setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) posted 37 assists while junior Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) served a career-high seven aces.

Rasmussen led Grove City's defense with 19 digs while junior Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) recorded 16 digs.

Rasmussen tallied a team-high 13 kills against Behrend and freshman Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) totaled 10 kills. Barry distributed 33 assists. Budd tallied 20 digs while Barry recorded 13 digs.

Grove City will host Bethany Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Wolverines' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener.
