Wolverines split tri-match

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College volleyball team is now 5-7 overall and 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference after splitting matches with Chatham and Saint Vincent at the Chatham Center Saturday afternoon. Grove City earned a 25-23, 25-16, 25-21 win over Chatham. In the day's second match, Saint Vincent topped the Wolverines, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23.

Against Chatham, freshman Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) recorded 10 kills while junior Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) had seven kills. Sophomore setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 30 assists.

Defensively, junior libero Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) tallied 18 digs while Annie Barry had 13 digs.

Sophomore Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) led Grove City with 13 kills against Saint Vincent while classmate Mary Masincup (Churchville, Va./Grace Christian) recorded nine kills. Annie Barry had 32 assists.

Junior Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) collected 21 digs while Budd had a dozen digs.

Saint Vincent is a member of the PAC but is completing its provisional status in NCAA Division III, thus, the match does not count in the conference standings.

Grove City will host Allegheny Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in non-conference action.
