Grove City drops non-conference match

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team fell to 5-8 overall Wednesday night with a hard-fought 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-20 setback against visiting Allegheny in non-conference action at the Grove City College Arena.

Junior Jodi Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) led a balanced Grove City effort with a season-high 12 kills. Junior Inge Rasmussen (Darnestown, Md./Poolesville) and sophomore Anna McCurdy (Guys Mills, Pa./Maplewood) each tallied 11 kills while sophomore Mary Masincup (Churchville, Pa./Grace Christian) and freshman Elisabeth Willits (Hatfield, Pa./North Penn) both notched eight kills.

Sophomore setter Annie Barry (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) recorded 41 assists and also served a pair of aces.

Junior libero Kim Budd (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) led Grove City with 28 digs while McCurdy had 23 digs. Rasmussen and Jodi Barry both added 13 digs. Jodi Barry and McCurdy each had four blocks.

Grove City returns to action Saturday when the Wolverines host a Presidents' Athletic Conference tri-match. Grove City meets Waynesburg at 11 a.m. The Wolverines will then play Thiel at 3 p.m. in the Grove City College Arena.
